The True Platypus

Platypus
*Platypus - A small, aquatic, egg-laying mammal, Ornithorhynchus anatinus, of Eastern Australia, having webbed feet, a tail like that of a beaver and a sensitive bill resembling that of a duck.

For generations, Oregonian parents and children, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and distant relatives, have found themselves with a mixture of Beavers and Ducks in the family. And several times each year, when Oregon State University and the University of Oregon find themselves competing on the playing fields and courts, families engage in the ultimate Oregon Civil War - a thing of legend...

At the Oregon State University Cascades Campus, the academic strengths of both institutions converge and create the ultimate, proverbial "platypus" - that blend of OSU/UO talent that showcases two of Oregon's best universities. At the Cascades Campus, OSU's strengths in areas like natural resources and human development combine with UO's strengths in areas like mathematics and psychology.

Students who come to the campus in Bend find that the academic excellence in both institutions gives them access to degrees that come from OSU's Carnegie High Research Activity standing, UO's Association of American Universities status and accreditations offered by both such as AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business - International) in business and NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) in education.

Getting an education at the OSU Cascades Campus makes our students a new breed - the Ultimate Platypus, capable of speaking to the strengths of OSU and UO and incapable, at times, of making a decision on who to root for during times of athletic competition. Find out more about getting an OSU or a UO degree in a beautiful setting surrounded by some of Oregon's most amazing and growing professional opportunities.
