Deborah Padgett Coehlo is an Assistant Professor of Human Development and Family Sciences at the OSU-Cascades Campus where she directs and teaches the Early Childhood Education Option as well as teaching in the Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. She received her PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from Oregon State University in 1999. Previous appointments have included Assistant Professor for the Oregon Health Sciences School of Nursing, Clinical Pediatric Nurse Practitioner positions at Linn-Benton Juvenile Detention Center, Dr. J. Alan Frierson's Pediatric Clinic, and Clinical Nurse Specialist and Instructor positions at the University of Washington Child Development Center.
She is a member of the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), the National Association for Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners (NAPNAP), and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Her research, scholarly work, and publications have focused on caregiving across the lifespan, care of children with special needs and their families, including sibling relationships, mental health issues across the life span and multimedia strategies for enhancing education. Her current research and scholarly interests are distance learning and development of multimedia educational programs and parenting in Native American families.
