Kathy Biles is the Coordinator for the School Counselor, M.S. in Counseling program at OSU-Cascades. Kathy received a B.S. in psychology from Charleston Southern University and an M.S. in counseling from Oregon State University, Corvallis. While working as a school counselor, Kathy earned a Ph.D. in counseling, with an emphasis in counselor education, also from Oregon State University. She was instrumental in launching OSU-Cascades' Master’s in Counseling program in 2004.
Kathy’s research interests include addictions and adolescent substance abuse, school counselor leadership, student motivation and academic achievement and social justice and advocacy. Kathy has worked as an addictions counselor, while serving in the Navy, as a counselor for an Upward Bound program and as a middle and high school counselor. She has presented workshops on student motivation and academic achievement at national and state conferences.
