“It’s in the Bag” Lecture Examines Opportunities and Risks of Doing Business in Argentina, Chile, Peru
Oregon State University - Cascades Campus' annual "It's in the Bag" lecture series continues on Wednesday, January 6 with a presentation titled "Doing Business in the Southern Cone: Argentina, Chile, Peru". The lunchtime lecture will be given by James Sickler of OSU-Cascades' business administration program.
Sickler, an adjunct professor with more than a decade of business management experience in South America, will examine the continent’s “Southern Cone,” the most prosperous macro-region in Latin America, and highlight the numerous business opportunities in countries in that region, as well as the business risks.
Most recently, Sickler served as general manager of Hidronor, Chile’s largest industrial and hazardous waste management company, where he was responsible for sales, operations and strategic planning. Sickler’s experience in Chile also included leading a project to restructure Avery Dennison’s business unit; overseeing sales, finance and production teams for a global manufacturer of fiber cement building materials, and co-founding a bi-lingual market research and professional services company.
Sickler earned a master’s of international management from the American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird, and an MBA from the University of Arizona.
"It’s in the Bag" lectures are held the first Wednesday of each month, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Cascades Hall, Room 118. The public is invited to bring a brown bag lunch and enjoy an in-depth look at faculty research projects, and understand how they relate to the everyday world.
Lectures are free and no reservation is needed. Complimentary beverages will be available. Audience members are asked to pick-up a free parking pass from the main office before parking. For more information visit www.OSUcascades.edu or contact 541-322-3100 or info@osucascades.edu.
