Free counseling in La Pine through OSU-Cascades graduate counseling program
Oregon State University - Cascades will offer free counseling for volunteer community members in La Pine this winter through the university's graduate counseling program. The free counseling sessions allow master’s students to implement and develop expertise under the close supervision of faculty and clinical supervisors, and provide a service to the community.
The counseling will be provided by graduate students who are receiving supervision in cognitive processing therapy and in person-centered therapy, two techniques shown to be effective in helping individuals manage stress, anxiety, depression and trauma. Participation in the free counseling requires advance registration and is limited to weekly 50-minute sessions to take place over 11 weeks starting in January 2013. Sessions will take place at the South Deschutes County Services Building in La Pine.
OSU-Cascades’ counseling program is accredited by the Council for Accrediting Counseling and Related Educational Programs. The program is recognized by the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and the National Board of Certified Counselors as meeting requirements for state licensing and national certification.
To register as a volunteer participant in the free counseling program visit http://www.osucascades.edu/free-counseling or contact Amy Ford at 541-322-3123. Participants must be age 18 or older.
