Information Sessions scheduled for elementary and secondary master’s in teaching programs
Oregon State University - Cascades invites individuals interested in teaching at the early childhood, elementary, middle or high school level to attend an Information Session with the faculty and staff of the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs. The sessions will be held in Cascades Hall on Wednesday, October 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, November 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and will cover the MAT program requirements and admissions procedures, as well as the application process and deadlines.
OSU-Cascades’ graduate teaching programs are full-time and follow a cohort model with students taking the same classes at the same time. The programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and include student teaching experience in local public schools.
The early childhood and elementary degree program provides graduates with a master's degree and an Oregon Initial I teaching license with authorizations in early childhood education and elementary education. The program begins each June and concludes in July of the following year.
The secondary teaching degree program for middle and high school provides graduates with a master’s degree and an Oregon Initial I Teaching License with authorizations to teach language arts or social studies in grades five through 12; both options emphasize English as a Second Language (ESOL) training. The program begins in June and concludes in July of the following year.
The application deadline for the 2012-13 academic year is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2011. The MAT classes begin in June 2012 and prerequisite courses are offered throughout the 2011-12 academic year.
Information Sessions are free and reservations are not necessary. To learn more visit http://www.osucascades.edu/academics/graduate or contact Donna Harris, Administrative Coordinator at 541-322-3173 or donna.harris@osucascades.edu.
