OSU-Cascades club ski team heads to Nationals for the second year in a row

snow-bennyIn its second year of competition, Oregon State University - Cascades club Nordic team will head to the national playing field once again. Two athletes have qualified for the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association's national championship which will take place March 11 through March 15 in Lake Placid, New York.

Sophomore biology major Sierra Foster will represent OSU-Cascades at the USCSA Collegiate Nationals following her 2013 debut. Last year in Sun Valley, Foster finished fourth place in the 8.5k Classic race, earning All American honors. She placed sixth in the 15k Skate race, earning second team All American honors. She was also awarded Academic All American and second team All American Nordic Combined for her performance.  Her race results this year include winning the Sunnyside JOQ in the U20 age group, and finishing 8th out of 56 racers in the Freestyle race. In the Sunnyside JOQ Classic race she finished 9th out of 60 racers and was first in the U20 age group.

Nolan King is a junior in Exercise and Sport Science at OSU-Cascades. This is his first year of racing collegiately for OSU-Cascades. His race results this year include finishing 27th out of 67 skiers at the Sunnyside JOQ in the Freestyle race and he finished 30th out of 67 skiers in the Sunnyside JOQ Classic race.
