OSU-Cascades Student-Created Radio Spots Now Airing
OSU-Cascades Student Marketing Group looks for practical experiences that will give its student members skills to be competitive in the job market after they graduate. The most recent venture of the 18-month old student-run organization is a three-month project co-sponsored by Combined Communications that gives students experience in scheduling, buying, conceiving, copywriting, and producing radio advertising. From inception to implementation the project has been directed by the students.
Last month, six of the organization’s student members participated in an in-studio production of the radio spots at Combined Communications studios in Bend. The three spots they produced will run through the end of May on Clear 101.7 and KBND. Combined Communications contributed half of the cost of the advertisements and guided the students through the project.
Marketing Professor David Knuff serves as the Student Marketing Group’s faculty advisor and said, “the primary goal of the organization is to bridge the gap between classroom theory and practical experience, and this project does exactly that."
