Who are we?

We are a membership of students and graduates of University of Oregon, Oregon State University, and Central Oregon Community College.

What is our mission?

Our mission is to provide a supportive social and academic environment for students interested in the social sciences---including Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Education, Criminal Justice and more!

What is the history of our organization?

We organized as a club in 2005. The high point that year was a trip to the Western Psychological Association Conference in Portland. Thirteen club members were able to sit in on presentations of current social science research and were able to meet students and faculty from other universities from around the west. Everyone came away from the meeting with new ideas about their education and careers. We are excited about new members and new ideas joining us in 2007 to expand on our previous activities.

What do we do?

  • Academic events----speakers on topics the members want to hear about such as career planning, art therapy, job interviews, how to survive college, child abuse, or any topic you can think of!
  • Research Conference----members may receive support to travel to a research conference of their choice or to the Western Psychological Association meeting
  • Social events----dinners at any of the local Brew pubs, potlucks, movie nights, ski days, trips to football games in Eugene
  • Charity events---fund-raisers or volunteer work for charities chosen by members

Why would you join us?

  • You can have fun and also become part of a strong community of students working for the progress of OSU-Cascades.
  • You can practice leadership skills as an officer or as a volunteer for a charity event and have something to add to your resume!
  • You can learn about careers in social sciences--jobs with a BS/BA or with a graduate degree.
  • You can travel to a research conference and expand your career horizon.
  • You can feel more connected to students from other schools in the area and build friendships that last forever.

When do we meet?

We meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month in the student lounge at OSU-Cascades (room 105) at 5:30 P.M. Our social and speaker events may occur on other days or nights as well. You are welcome to come and check out one of our meetings at any time!!
