Veterans Information

OSU-Cascades is committed to supporting veterans who attend our institution. We are here to assist you in making a smooth transition from military life to student life, or transition from a transfer institution to the culture of OSU-Cascades.  We are dedicated to providing you with information, tools, and services that will help you be successful at OSU-Cascades.

To Do/Processing for Veterans Benefits Each Term:

  • Contact your OSU-Cascades advisor to get approval for the courses you plan to take in the following term.   Students must email their OSU-Cascades advisor your COCC courses each term as soon as you register.  It is important to be clear that you are requesting verification for Veterans Benefits.
  • Your OSU-Cascades advisor will email his or her approval to the Veterans' Certifying Services at OSU Corvallis. The email must include a statement that courses being taken apply to a degree program offered at OSU. The statement must include the course number and name of the class.
  • The Veterans' Certifying Services in OSU Corvallis will send a "Parent School" Letter of approval to COCC.
  • COCC will then be able to certify you to the VA for the specified courses.
  • The Veterans' Certifying Services at OSU Corvallis will then issue enrollment certification documents to the appropriate VA Regional office in order to monitor the student's satisfactory academic progress. Please contact them directly with any questions on certification. Your academic advisor cannot check certification processes.

Note: When students are taking courses at both COCC and OSU often times the certification of credits will not be at the same time. It is common for a student to be notified by the Department of Veterans Affairs of only their OSU credits first before the COCC credits are certified.

Contact your Academic Advisor if:

  • You increase or reduce your credit load in a given term
  • You withdraw from studies at OSU-Cascades or Central Oregon Community College
