Business Programs of Study

BA/BS or Minor: General Business Option
The College of Business at Oregon State University - Cascades is a student-centered learning environment that provides students with the professional preparation necessary for successful careers in the highly competitive global business environment. The curriculum, unique to OSU-Cascades, is designed to provide students with a well-rounded business perspective. At OSU-Cascades, students do not specialize in one specific business discipline (e.g., finance, marketing, management). Students instead take multiple upper division courses in several business disciplines so that upon graduation they have a holistic business perspective, which is especially important in smaller and entrepreneurial organizational environments. Emphasis throughout the curriculum is placed not only upon the concepts and analytical techniques of business decision-making, but also upon the obligations and opportunities of businesses to be socially responsible.
BA/BS: International Business Option
The International Business (IB) Option within the business administration major provides students with the international skills necessary to succeed in our increasingly global economy. This option is designed to equip students with professional ready skills to meet demands of both private and public businesses which find themselves increasingly faced with international, linguistic and cross-cultural challenges. In combining business, marketing, finance, language and international studies with a study abroad opportunity, students will enter the workforce with exposure to, and knowledge of, the international environment. This unique program of study gives students the exciting opportunity to learn about a foreign culture while earning academic credit by participating in our signature exchange program in Bad Mergentheim Germany.
BA/BS: Hospitality Management Option
The Hospitality Management Option within the business administration major is designed to provide students with both fundamental business skills (as described in the General Business Option) and to enable students to think strategically about the creation of value in a hospitality setting. Students will develop skills in asset management, environmental scanning and competitive methods, and be able to assess cause and effect relationships about the forces that drive change and influence the competitive environment within this industry. A graduate from this option will have the skills and knowledge necessary to become a leader in a hospitality setting (e.g., settings with short-term overnight accommodations with foodservice operations such as resorts, hotels, cruise lines, casinos, amusement parks).
Business Professional School Application Process for Cascades and Corvallis
The College of Business operates with a Professional School model of education. This means students complete pre-business courses their freshmen and sophomores before applying for admission to the Professional School program at OSU Cascades. A student must be admitted to the Professional School to register for upper-division courses within the academic programs offered at Cascades. Admission to the Professional School at Cascades does not concurrently admit a student to the Professional School at Corvallis. If transferring to Corvallis, a student must apply to Corvallis and seek advising from the Corvallis campus.
